On Friday, May 8, 2026, Metro Vancouver is hosting its fifth annual wildfire workshop.
Wildfire risks continue to escalate due to climate change and other factors, and many organizations play a role in regional wildfire management. Effectively dealing with this increasing complexity means fostering connections and continuously working to improve our collective knowledge, capacity, and collaboration.

- 2025 Wildfire season retrospective and 2026 seasonal update
- What “coexisting with wildfire” means in BC
- Lessons from the frontlines: Wesley Ridge Wildfire & Mount Underwood wildfire responses
- Technology and communication tools to enhance response
- Role of Indigenous cultural knowledge and prescribed fires
- Mental health and resilience among firefighters/responders
Previous years’ events were attended by representatives of fire departments, First Nations, emergency program coordinators, wildfire services, and others both from Canada and abroad.
